Liverpool is this year's venue for the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championship. Jason Wynyard and the New Zealand Team will be heading to Liverpool to defend their Individual and Team World Titles.
On the 19th and 20th October 2018, the world's best athletes compete against each other in the sports-loving city of Liverpool for the first time.
The thrilling individual and team competitions promise action, excitement and top performances over two nights. Individual athletes from twelve countries will compete against each other in all six TIMBERSPORTS® disciplines; Springboard, Stock Saw, Standing Block Chop, Single Buck, Underhand Chop and the mighty Hot Saw. The best 22 national teams compete in a stunning relay event in a knockout competition.
The world championship of the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® Series is over: New Zealand's Jason Wynyard is the former and current world champion. In a breath-taking competition he successfully defended his title, becoming the best logger sports athlete of the world for the ninth time. He won in the Håkons Hall in Lillehammer in front of an enthusiastic crowd of more than 3,000 spectators. In a thrilling finale Australia's Brad De Losa and Mitch Hewitt of Canada managed to stand next to him on the podium.
The New Zealand Team are the new Logger Sport World Champions. The Kiwis secured their first championship title since 2013 against the surprise performance of team Poland thus ending Australia‘s victory spree, who landed on third place after a disqualification in the semi-finals.
The family-owned STIHL company celebrated its 90th anniversary on July 16 with over 8,000 guests. The active staff and their families as well as company retirees were invited to the family fete at the founding company in Waiblingen-Neustadt.
STIHL inaugurated its own combined heat and power station (CHP) at Plant 2 in Waiblingen-Neustadt on June 9 and thus implemented one of the company's most innovative energy concepts.
