The R variations of the STIHL HS 81 and STIHL HS 86 are designed specifically for large volume cutting. They feature a cutting blade with wide tooth spacing and longer tooth height. The gearing allows a high cutting power at medium stroke rate. The R variations provide the possibility of cutting of thicker branches and completing clearing work faster and more easily.
FOR OPTIMAL HEDGE CUTTING. The double-sided cutting blade facilitates optimum hedge cutting: vertically, horizontally and in corners. Thanks to the double-sided cutting blades, you can effectively trim or prune your hedge – even those thicker branches.
It is possible to adjust the blade stroke using 3 settings. This means you can set the ideal blade speed for any task. The blade stroke is adjusted using the control cockpit on the rotary handle. The control cockpit rotates with the handle, so that the button is always within easy reach.
FOR SAFE TRANSPORT AND PROTECTED STORAGE. Transport and store your hedge trimmer and shrub shears safely and securely with the tailor-made blade scabbard.
PREVENTS DAMAGE. The tip protector prevents damage to the blades. The tip protector also makes it easier to cut close to the ground or along walls.
The screwed on cut protection increases overlaps the working blade, reducing the risk of making contact with the blades. This can be replaced if worn out.
LOW-MAINTENANCE AND EFFICIENT. Thanks to its compact design, low weight and high efficiency, the EC engine enables you to work in an energy efficient manner. This engine also has a long service life.
SPLASHWATER PROTECTION. The IPX protection classes define the moisture protection of electrical or electronic devices. The moisture protection test is defined in different stages. IPX4 certifies protection against splashwater from all sides. Battery-powered tools with this certification are therefore designed for daily use, even in rainy conditions.
INTEGRATION INTO STIHL CONNECTED. The power tool is compatible with the Smart Connector, meaning it can be integrated into the STIHL connected system. Once you have attached a Smart Connector to the power tool, after one-time commissioning it will record the power tool’s operating hours and transmit them to the STIHL connected App via Bluetooth. In addition to displaying the operational time, the app also provides an overview of all necessary maintenance, ensuring that you do not overlook important upkeep and that your power tool is always in a ready-to-use condition.
FOR MORE PLEASANT WORK. Vibrations can occur when you put your power tools through their paces, and these are particularly noticeable in the grip area. The buffer and spring elements of the STIHL anti-vibration system reduce the transmission of engine vibrations to the handle area and therefore to your body. The result is that your power tool is more comfortable to hold and your work is much less tiring.

The STIHL HSA 150 R is a powerful, durable battery hedge trimmer designed for demanding professional use in landscaping and council operations. Its single-sided cutter bar with catcher plate enables efficient, high-volume trimming. The low blade speed and wide tooth spacing on the double-sided cutting blade allow precise pruning of even thicker branches. Powered by an EC motor, it delivers consistent performance and a long service life. The stroke rate can be adjusted across three stages (2,600, 3,000, and 3,400 strokes per minute) using the single-sided handle.
The HSA 150 R offers excellent flexibility with its plug-in lithium-ion battery from the STIHL AP System. Low noise and vibration levels allow hedge trimming without the need for hearing protection. Friction-optimised blades extend battery life and enhance durability. Screw-on cut protection and a tip protector improve safety and protect the cutting attachment.
The STIHL HSA 150 R is available with a 75 cm bar length and is compatible with the optional STIHL Smart Connector 2 A.
All battery-powered tools in the STIHL AP System are designed for regular professional use, even in adverse weather conditions. They are certified splashproof, with performance verified through rigorous internal testing aligned with the IPX4 standard. The HSA 150 R has also been officially certified to IPX4, confirming its splash protection.
